For Parents and Caregivers
In order to
ensure that we are meeting the needs of parents and caregivers, our
workshop facilitators develop parenting education sessions and
workshops that include learning activities that respond to a variety of
learning styles.
Parent Education Programs
Daytime Parenting Series
These daytime series offer a learning opportunity for
parents. Join us as guest speakers and our Early Childhood
Professionals provide valuable information about family, parenting, and
health issues. Supervised children’s programs are provided free of
charge.
Registration for daytime parenting series is by scheduled lotteries. Please see registration
information for session dates
and registration deadlines. Due to program demand, registration
is based on a lottery system. Lotteries take place six times a

The Gift of Discipline
Learn effective ways to manage challenging behaviours. Ideas and
information on temperament, setting limits and positive parenting
approaches and strategies will be shared and discussed.
Living Healthy
Health and well-being can affect everything our families do. Sharing
time together, eating healthy meals and exercising can be a part of
family activities that help strengthen relationships. This series helps
parents and caregivers find the right balance for the needs and
abilities of each member of the family.
Children Today
Explore and discuss skills useful for raising children in today’s
complicated, ever-changing world. Learn to understand and deal with
today’s influences on children. Topics include bullying, media,
aggression, stress and safety.
Play and Learn
Explore the ways children grow and develop at different stages of
development and the different ways that children play. Learn
about how to get involved in your child’s play, how to promote learning
through play and how to take advantage of those “teachable moments”.
Right From the Start
This program is for parents of children up to the age of two and will
help parents build a safe and positive relationship with their child.
Topics inlcude learning about bonding, responding to children and
communication.
Parenting Your 3-6 Year Old
Parents will learn how to understand their child's behaviour, how
to encourage positive behaviour, how to prevent and manage
challengin behaviour and how to help their children to express
their emotions and how to problem solve.
COPEing With Toddler
Behaviour
An 8 week parenting group designed for parents who wish to learn about
encouraging and nuturing a good relationship with their child. Learn
about postive behaviour management strategies to promote postive
behaviour and talk to other parents.

Evening and Weekend Workshops
Join us for these fun and informative workshops
for parents and caregivers. Workshops provide an opportunity to meet
other parents and learn about child development, parenting topics and
current issues facing families. Childcare is not provided.

Successful Single Parents
This support group
allows single parents to network with other single parents, discuss
common concerns and issues, get information and support and explore the
unique strenths of single parent families. Join us the first
Monday of the month for a light meal with your child(ren) and then
childcare will be provided giving parents a chance to discuss important
issues.
